On a sunny morning or
afternoon a person would be hard pressed to find a more breathtaking
drive than the sea to sky highway
from Vancouver to Whistler. You begin your drive along Howe
Sound taking in fjord like vistas of towering cliffs and glacial
peaks
rising from the water below. The drive alone would be worth
your visit. It is just an added bonus that Whistler has become
the
premiere ski resort in North America according to Ski and Snow
Country Magazines. Whistler is a top ski resort in the winter
and a hiking, golfing, white water rafting, and mountain biking
centre in the summer.
If you have time during your visit to the
Pacific Northwest, a drive or stay in Whistler will be worth
your while. The Whistler
Village was planned from the start to be a ski resort. The
architecture has a conspicuous consistency, yet it houses 40,000
beds very
well. The village is geared toward the pedestrian and is quite
easy to find your way around. Accommodation and dining, although
it can sometimes be expensive, is first class.
